The Controlling staff unit is assigned to the full-time Vice President.

In addition to maintaining the content and setting up the cost type, cost center and cost object accounting, the core task is the collection, processing and analysis of data. This includes both the development and support of internal controlling instruments for resource management - e.g. MAIKEplus or the further development of the university's internal budgeting - as well as the handling of external information needs that arise from the university key figures system, the cross-university financing formula, university administration benchmarking or comparable systems and requests.

Controlling is also responsible in particular for creating the internal university conditions for compliance with the Union framework for state aid to promote research, development and innovation (separation accounting). In addition to calculating the hourly rates and the associated overheads, this also includes processing the hourly records reported by the institutions and posting them to the order cost centers.
